SurciS was first named S.T.D so here's the std
bio 'cause Im lazy
S.T.D originally formed as a garage band in 1994.
The original members were/ Josh Arrow: Guitar
Thomas Stokes: Guitar
Andrew McCurdy: Bass and Vocals
Adam Willis: Drums
Then S.T.D recruited
another member to sing Lindsay Butler. They spent most of their time playing
cover songs by bands such as Metallica, Korn, Nirvana, Offspring, Rage
against the Machine and various other bands. S.T.D then started playing
at parties and school assemblies. One assembly they were going to play
at was their year 10 assembly they were going to play Blind by Korn. They
were totally prepared and ready to play when just after they had finished
setting up their equipment their teacher said we weren't allowed to play
Blind But we could play Enter Sandman by Metallica. Enter Sandman is a
good song but we wanted to finish year 10 by absolutely going crazy and
Blind is the perfect song to achieve this. Agreeably slightly pissed off
we told the teachers to shove it up their ass and we didn't play anything.
None of us left school
we all decided to go to year 11. We continued playing at assemblies for
awhile until me and Thomas realized how much further we could go but we
could only go there if we got rid of Adam. Adam was a good drummer but
he just didn't have the commitment to practice at home or with the rest
of us so he was left behind as the rest of us started to improve on our
sound and style. After getting rid of Adam, Thomas took up the drums, (he
was already better then Adam Because he practiced a lot with his brothers
drum kit) we started to learn some songs by Coal Chamber, Deftones and
even Marilyn Manson. I was happy with the way we were heading but I caught
a few hints from Lindsay that he wasn't serious about the band. We didn't
actually kick him out we just organized practices without inviting him
(still to this day he still thinks he's in the band). Now without a full-time
singer we just played all our songs without vocals.
Thomas was the
next to go but this was his choice (or maybe his parents). He left our
hardcore death metal band to join a half country and western band that
consisted of a bunch of 40 year all hippies. I never understood why he
left he was the only one I was sure wouldn't leave. His band was called
'The Dukes' now what sort of band does that sound like, some sort of child
molesting bunch of fags.
After me
and Gobs (Andrew McCurdy) realized we were the last ones in the band we
didn't practice at all I was sure that was it but I couldn't my childhood
dream get away like that so I sat at home making up my own songs they sound
a cross between Sepultura, Korn and Metallica. Metallica will for ever
be my favorite band however much I hide it and However much they change
into a pop band. After recording about 4 songs in a couple of days with
the schools 4 track recorder that I borrowed over the christmas holidays
I gave the recorder and the songs to Gobs to put some lyrics too. When
he gave me back the finished product I noticed how good Gobs could sing
and play bass when he put his mind to it.
I decided to leave
school. My parents and everybody else think its to join the army or get
a job but I only left so that I could put all my time into the band so
I could show everybody that we can do it and then laugh in their face as
we head to the top. I kept the recorder even though I had left school.
Now we have about 14 songs about six aren't recorded yet. Me and Gobs made
up the name S.T.D when Thomas was still in the band. S.T.D stands for something
that me and Gobs made up and in one of our songs that isn't recorded yet
it says what it stands for in the lyrics but you will have to by our album
when we finally get a record label to find out.
